Thirty female officers of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have successfully completed a four-day peacekeeping training programme, culminating in the presentation of certificates on Friday, 16 January 2026.

The training was organised in partnership with the British Peace Support Team–Africa (BPST-A) and aimed at strengthening the preparedness and professional capacity of female police officers for future international peacekeeping deployments.

The programme focused on key components of modern peacekeeping operations, including mission operational environments, international humanitarian and human rights law, professional conduct, and the importance of networking within multinational mission settings.

Delivering the keynote address at the closing and certification ceremony, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Mr. Sahr Yomba Senesi, who represented the Inspector General of Police (IGP), described the training as rigorous and highly relevant to contemporary peacekeeping demands. He underscored the importance of teamwork, coordination, and professionalism within international mission theatres, urging the participants to uphold these values whenever they are deployed.

DIG Senesi commended the officers for their dedication, discipline, and commitment throughout the programme. He also expressed appreciation to the facilitators and the British Peace Support Team–Africa for their continued partnership and support in building the capacity of the Sierra Leone Police.

The ceremony concluded with the formal presentation of certificates to all 30 female officers, marking their successful completion of the training and reinforcing the SLP’s commitment to increasing women’s participation in global peacekeeping efforts.
