The Chief Justice of Sierra Leone, His Lordship Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, on Monday, 12 January 2026 carried out an unannounced inspection of the Pademba Road Magistrates’ Courts as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability and improve service delivery within the judiciary.
The early-morning visit took place during normal court sittings and was intended to assess punctuality, attendance, and the general conduct of magistrates and court support staff. The inspection forms part of a broader monitoring strategy aimed at ensuring judicial officers remain committed to their responsibilities and that court services function efficiently.
Speaking during the visit, Chief Justice Kamanda said the judiciary would continue to conduct routine and surprise inspections nationwide to enhance access to justice and rebuild public confidence in the legal system. He noted that such engagements are essential to identifying operational gaps and reinforcing professional standards across the courts.
“These monitoring visits will continue as we work towards bringing justice closer to all Sierra Leoneans. So far, I am satisfied with what I have seen,” the Chief Justice stated.
The Chief Justice was accompanied by the Deputy Assistant Registrar, Mabel Sesay, who also interacted with court staff on administrative and operational matters affecting daily court proceedings.
Since assuming office, Justice Komba Kamanda has consistently emphasized reforms centered on integrity, accountability, and improved service delivery. Monday’s unannounced visit to the Pademba Road Magistrates’ Courts is widely viewed as a practical demonstration of his commitment to judicial reform and effective administration of justice.
