In a remarkable show of generosity and commitment to education, Hon. Sidie Tunis, former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament and a distinguished member of Sierra Leone’s Parliament, has fulfilled a financial pledge he made to the Sierra Leone Law School. At a special ceremony held at his Parliament office, Hon. Tunis presented a cash donation of $21,000 to Dr. Abubakarr Bangura, the Director of the Sierra Leone Law School. The funds will be used for the construction of a new law school building, a critical development for the institution.
During the presentation, Hon. Tunis expressed his continued support for the Law School, stating, “My doors are always open to you, and I will engage with my business partners to ensure further support.” His words highlighted a deep commitment to the growth of Sierra Leone’s legal education and the betterment of its future lawyers.
Dr. Abubakarr Bangura, visibly moved by the generous gesture, thanked Hon. Tunis for his unwavering support to the school and encouraged other leaders to follow his example. He also spoke of the profound impact Hon. Tunis has had on education in Sierra Leone, particularly in empowering youth and women through various initiatives.
“Hon. Tunis is one of the few politicians who truly understands the power of education and has consistently demonstrated generosity,” Dr. Bangura said. “His dedication to improving our society is unparalleled, and today’s donation is just another testament to his kindness.”
A student representative, who accompanied the Director, also delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. “On behalf of all the students, we are deeply grateful for this generous gesture. This contribution will benefit many future generations of law students, and we will forever be thankful to Hon. Tunis for this act of kindness.”
Hon. Tunis’s support is a testament to his continued focus on improving the lives of Sierra Leoneans, particularly the youth and women. His track record of giving back to society makes him one of the most generous and admired politicians in the country.
