The resident magistrate in Kenema, Mustapha Briama-Jah of Magistrate Court No.2 has sent one Bobor Joseph, a diamond miner, to five years imprisonment for possession of narcotics.
The accused was charged to court for possession of narcotics contrary to Sec.48(1) of the Pharmacy and Drugs Act No.12 of 2001.
Bobor Joseph on Sunday, April 14th, 2024 of Lowoma village, Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema District, eastern province of the Republic of Sierra Leone, was found in possession of thirty-six wraps and on sachet of Kush. He pleaded guilty and begged for mercy.
In his Judgement, Magistrate Braima-Jah having heard from the prosecution the fact of the case and record of the accused and the accused pleaded for mercy, the Magistrate did not give an alternate but imposed a custodian sentence. The accused was sent down to the SLCS for a jail term of 5 years.
In the same courtroom, Amara Momoh appeared before Magistrate Braima-Jah for Larceny contrary to Sec.2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The accused on April 27, 2024 at Weima Town, Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema District, stole thirty (30) leaves of board each valued at Fifty New Leones (NLe 50.00) total valued of One Thousand Five Hundred New Leones (NLe 1,500.00), property of Samai Harlow. He was sentenced to Four Years (4) imprisonment.
Police Constable 13563 Zainab Fornah and Inspector Aiah Mafinda Teh attached to the Legal and Justice Support Department at the Kenema Police Station prosecuted the matters respectively.
