20 people in police net for Gruesome

Sixteen men and Four women, including the prime suspect, Umaru Sama of Pujehun Section in Kenema City, are helping the police with their investigation in connection with the gruesome murder of seventy-year-old Lebanese national, Salim Alie Dayeck whose body was found in his  No. 26 Hangha Road in Kenema in the early hours of 11th September, 2024, with multiple stab wounds.

According to Police Media Unit in Kenema, police received information from another Lebanese man, Kamal Mamtalla Mansour who lives opposite No.26 Hangha Road. Mr Mansour reported that he had seen an unusual activity at the shop of his colleague Lebanese man (the deceased) that prompted him to rush down the shop of the deceased only to meet Umaru Sama [the deceased’s shopkeeper] who was trying to close the shop at an unusual time. “Mr. Mansour raised an alarm, arrested and brought to police Umaru Sama,” said Brima James Musa, police media officer in Kenema.

A team of police officers, including the regional crime officer- east, D/SP Mohamed Hindolo Feika, went to the scene of the crime. Upon their arrival, the room of the deceased was closed but they saw blood around his parlour which led them to his bathroom where they found the body of Salam Alie Dayeck wrapped in a piece of cloth. According to Brima James Musa, when the visiting team searched further, they saw the body of Mr. Dayeck with deep wounds on his neck, hands and other parts of his body. “The remains of Salim Alie Dayeck was taken to the government hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy whilst the police continue their operations,” the police media officer said.

The SLP Media Unit in Kenema encouraged the public and the media in Kenema to help them apprehend those involved in the killing of Salim Alie Dayeck. The SLP in Kenema lauded the efforts of the Lebanese community in Kenema for facilitating a pathologist and the postmortem which is now in progress. After the postmortem examination, the police would know the cause of death from the expert point of view, and as procedure, they would hand over the body of Mr. Dayeck to his family for burial,” police officer Brima James Musa explained.
