During the FIFA Forward 4.0 Consultative Meeting in Abidjan on April 11, 2026, Sierra Leone Football Association President Babadi Kamara reinforced his role as a regional voice. The high-level forum brought together the presidents of West Africa’s WAFU Zones A and B to help shape FIFA’s development funding framework for the 2027-2030 cycle.
At the consultations, President Kamara joined fellow West African leaders in advocating for a funding model that is tailored to the realities on the ground. He was a strong supporter of targeted infrastructure development, administrative efficiency measures, expanded technical development programmes, and rigorous governance reform. Kamara emphasised that, while Sierra Leone strives to align with global best practices, projects that provide tangible, locally relevant benefits for grassroots, youth, and elite football must be prioritised.
The session, led by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, is part of a larger international effort to strengthen the game by 2030. Kamara’s active participation highlighted Sierra Leone’s growing influence in continental football policymaking, as well as the SLFA’s determination to capitalise on global opportunities and development funding to drive long-term growth at all levels of the sport. His contributions will ensure that West African needs are central to FIFA’s next investment phase. #SierraLeone #CAF
