19-year-old British-Sierra Leonean swimmer Halle Harris delivered an outstanding debut for Sierra Leone at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Harris won Heat 8 of the Women’s 50m Freestyle with a time of 26.1 seconds at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

She finished 18th overall out of 66 Commonwealth swimmers in the event and has been named as a reserve for the semi-finals later this evening.

Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq., Executive Director – National Sports Authority, expressed delight at the young swimmer’s performance: “We are extremely impressed with Halle’s outstanding debut at the Games. Her performance shows the talent and potential we have. This is exactly the kind of result that inspires the next generation in Sierra Leone.”

As a reserve, Halle will be on standby should any swimmer withdraw from the semi-finals. Regardless, her top-20 finish on debut marks a major milestone for swimming in Sierra Leone.
