RECRUITMENT OF AN INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT FOR TRAINING ON MICROSOFT PROJECT

Introduction

The Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) was created by the Sierra Leone Water Company Act 2001 (revised 2017). The object for which it was created is to provide for a more efficient and effective management of community and rural water supply systems on self-supporting basis in the 14 Provincial Districts (outside of Western Area) and to provide for the facilitation of water related sanitation and delivery, and related matters in Sierra Leone.

The Microsoft Project Training for Project Staff aims to equip the project team and other staff members with the essential skills and knowledge required to effectively plan, manage, and execute projects using Microsoft Project. This training will empower participants with the tools and techniques necessary to optimize project workflows and enhance productivity.

This Training TOR outlines the essential details of the Microsoft Project Training for Project and other staff members. The program is designed to enhance the skills of staff members and improve the overall project management process.

 

Training Objectives

The primary objectives of this training are as follows:

  • To provide an in-depth understanding of Microsoft Project (using the latest version) and its key features.
  • To teach participants how to create, manage, and track project schedules and tasks.
  • To demonstrate best practices in resource allocation and management within Microsoft Project.
  • To enable participants to customize project views and reports for better decision-making.
  • To promote collaboration and communication among project team members through Microsoft Project.

 This four-day training plan is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Microsoft Project, from the fundamentals to advanced features, and to equip staff with the skills needed for effective project management. Participants will leave the training with a strong foundation in the Microsoft Project and the ability to apply their knowledge to real-world projects.

 Training Content

The training will cover the following key topics:

  • Introduction to Microsoft Project
  • Creating and Setting Up a Project
  • Task Creation, Management, and Dependencies
  • Resource Management and Allocation
  • Customizing Gantt Charts and Views
  • Tracking Progress and Managing Changes
  • Collaboration and Communication Tools
  • Reporting and Analysis in Microsoft Project
  • Best Practices and Tips for Effective Project Management
  • All advanced techniques

 Training Methods

Throughout the training, participants will engage in hands-on exercises, practical examples, and group discussions. Q&A sessions will be integrated into each topic to ensure participant engagement and understanding. On the final day, there will be a comprehensive review of key concepts and practical applications, followed by certificate distribution to successful participants.

The training will employ a variety of instructional methods to enhance learning, including:

  • Instructor-led presentations and demonstrations.
  • Hands-on exercises and practical examples.
  • Group discussions and case studies.
  • Q&A sessions and open forums for participant interaction.

 Duration

The training program will be conducted over a period of 4 days, spread across 9 sessions. (Note: Potential consultants are free to provide alternative training period)

 Number of Trainees: The expected number of trainees is 15.

 Training Materials

At the cost of the consultant, participants will be provided with training materials, including:

  • Training manuals and guides.
  • Sample project files for practice.
  • Access to online resources and references.

 Assessment and Certification

To assess participants’ knowledge and skills, a final evaluation will be conducted at the end of the training. Successful participants will receive a certificate of completion, recognizing their proficiency in Microsoft Project.

 The trainer will also be evaluated by trainees using a template that will be designed by the Human Resources Department.

 Training Location

The training will be held at boardroom, SALWACO’s Headquarters, Tower Hill, Freetown

 Trainer Selection:

A qualified and certified Microsoft Project trainer with expertise in the latest version of MS Project will be selected to conduct the training. The trainer should have experience in delivering training of professionals in similar roles.

 

Cost:

Consultants should provide quotation for undertaking the work.

 

Facilities, Data, Documents and Services to Be Provided by the Client

 

  1. Training venue and facilities for electronic presentations
  2. All other resources needed for the performance of the duties of the consultant should be incorporated his/her their Financial Proposal.

 SALWACO now invites eligible Individual Consultants to submit proposals for providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services. Both Technical and Financial Proposals shall be submitted in separate envelopes. Only consultants that score the pass mark for Technical Proposals will have their financial Proposals opened and considered. Consultants who score below the technical score will have their Financial Proposals returned to them unopened.

  A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the Individual Consultant (IC) procedures in the Public Procurement Act (2016) and Regulations (2020).
