Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has donated more than 25 laptop computers and modems with one-year internet subscriptions to district and regional secretaries of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), in a move aimed at strengthening the party’s administrative and organisational capacity.
The donation was made on Monday, August 31, 2026, during a meeting at the SLPP headquarters, where Dr. Sengeh was received by National Chairman Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, elected officials, district, regional and national executive officers, as well as more than 100 grassroots supporters.
According to Dr. Sengeh, the donation fulfils a commitment he made several months ago to provide district and regional secretaries with the necessary tools to improve their work.
He said the initiative forms part of his broader human capital development priorities within the party and is intended to equip party administrators with modern resources to enhance their efficiency.
In addition to the laptops, each beneficiary received a modem with a one-year subscription. The internet support was provided with assistance from Madam Salima Monorma Bah, while introductory computer training was provided with support from Mr. Jasper Patrick Sembie.
Dr. Sengeh explained that the latest intervention builds on a series of initiatives undertaken over the past six months to strengthen the capacity of SLPP secretaries and administrators.
Among these interventions, he cited the provision of full scholarships for constituency-level secretaries and above who are pursuing undergraduate degrees or lower-level programmes, as well as 50 percent scholarships for those undertaking postgraduate studies, including master’s and doctoral programmes both locally and internationally.
He further disclosed that his office had supported the National Association of Constituency Secretaries to organise a national conference and develop an action plan aimed at improving the effectiveness of constituency secretaries.
Dr. Sengeh said the interventions were designed to support the vision of the party’s leadership to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and make party structures more effective.
During the meeting, SLPP National Chairman Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa called for additional support for party administrators and functional national officers, highlighting the need to provide them with adequate tools to carry out their responsibilities.
Responding to the request, Dr. Sengeh pledged to provide an additional five desktop computers for administrative staff and 10 laptops for national officers.
The Chief Minister described the various interventions as part of his continued commitment to human capital development within the SLPP.
He stressed that the party’s description of itself as a “radically inclusive human capital political party” should be demonstrated through practical initiatives that build the capacity of its members and structures.
The latest donation is expected to improve communication, digital record-keeping and administrative coordination among party secretaries across the country, while also enabling them to make greater use of technology in carrying out their responsibilities.
Dr. Sengeh concluded by reaffirming his commitment to supporting the party’s development agenda and the broader government delivery programme, stating: “Together, we will deliver.”
