Recognizing & Celebrating

 By Sheku Putka Kamara

Myself, Fr. Suma and Mr. Nicol, moments after arriving in Binkolo on Friday May 17th, 2024.

In 2014/15 academic year, I was in my final honours class studying Mass Communication at FBC. Isaac Massaquoi, PhD was still HoD at the time. That was my first encounter with Dr. Suma. He had just returned to Sierra Leone and so he happened to handle the broadcast media module in our final. The journey continued when I opted to read my MA in Mass Communication in 2016/17 academic year and Dr. Suma was the one handling advanced theories and strategic media management alongside Dr. Francis Sowa Esq.

So, this weekend, we spent two nights in Binkolo, five miles off Makeni in honour of the 20th Priestly Anniversary for Rev. Fr. Dr. Victor Manga Salifu Suma who among other things is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Communication, Media and Information Studies, FBC. Our Head of delegation was HoD, Joshua Nicol and yes, we had a memorable time.

Rev. Fr. Suma has made a name for himself. He has distinguished himself not just as a Man of God, but also, an accomplished academic who does a lot of other things. At some point, he was Managing Director at the AYV Media Empire and he was also serving and hopefully still serving the Independent Media Commission as a Commissioner.

In the lecture room, Dr. Suma is the easy time. He lectures to the best of his ability and his subjects are highly understood. It gives me the greatest pleasure to celebrate someone who has greatly helped to mentor and shape my carrier.

We have utmost persons that are valuable human resources in Sierra Leone. Dr. Suma is one of such persons. His passion for what he does sets him apart and that exemplification is a testament to his dedication, simplicity, but rigidity, astute and result-driven drive. It gladdens me that he is commemorating 20th Priestly Anniversary. May the Almighty continue to give him the absolute wisdom, strength and understanding to do more for the people of this country and beyond and may he equally see the benefits in and for same.

It is good to give people their flowers whiles and when they are still alive and so, it makes every sense to give Dr. Suma his because and as suggested and justified, he is a good man. Congratulations Fr. Suma
