Power outage hits freetown

By Josephine Sesay

The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) on Monday, 23rd September, 2024, announced power outage affecting several neighbourhoods in Freetown due to a transformer malfunction.

This came after the 33Kv incomer transformer at Wilberforce emitted a loud noise, resulting in an immediate power cut across the 33Kv network distribution line.

Areas impacted by the outage include parts of Wilberforce, Regent Village, Bathurst, Spur Road, Lumley, Goderich, and the entire Peninsular region. Residents in these areas are currently experiencing disruptions to their electricity supply.

EDSA has acknowledged the inconvenience caused by this outage and is working diligently to address the issue. Technicians have been dispatched to the site to assess the damage and initiate repairs. The authority has pleaded with residents of the affected areas to remain patient as they strive to restore power as quickly as possible.
