
A 48-year-old man, Simeon Kamara of No. 15 Taylor Street, Kissy, Freetown, is currently in police custody following his arrest for the unlawful possession of a substance believed to be cannabis sativa.
The arrest was carried out on Monday, 12 January 2026, by the Regional Operations Team in Freetown East during a routine operation aimed at curbing drug-related activities in the eastern part of the capital.
Confirming the development, the team leader, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Francis Momodu Tommy, said the operation forms part of ongoing proactive policing efforts to prevent crime and enhance public safety. He emphasized that the Regional Operations Team remains vigilant and committed to protecting lives and property.
The suspected cannabis was seized at the time of arrest, and investigations are currently ongoing. The suspect remains in police custody pending further police action.
