In an exclusive interview with Expo Times, just after his approval in parliament as the country’s deputy minister of information and civic education, Hon. Bockarie Abdel Aziz Bawoh has promised to take governance and information to the doorsteps of community members, noting his addition to the ministry will boost civic education and direct community engagement.
“I’m going to bring governance and information to the doorstep of the common man so that, even if you don’t have television, or radio you have somebody who will take governance business to you,” he said, adding that his role as a deputy minister is to support his boss to see how they can achieve whatever the minister of information and civic education has planned.
Hon. Bockarie Abdel Aziz Bawoh assured that he will proffer solutions on how his ministry will engage at community levels, moving away from these traditional settings like the television and radio stations because it is not everybody that listens to radio or watches televisions or browse online. According to him, the best way is to directly engage the people and give correct information.
Speaking on how he can achieve it, the deputy minister said he is going to engage his minister so that he can have grass root community by which they can prepare (record) the information and give it to community members for it to be played on buses, taxis and public transport.
“There are lots of things government has done and continues to do but people in the communities are not aware of such. Our responsibility is to let the people know what government is doing,” Mr. Bawoh pointed out.
