At the High Court Holding in Kenema on January 6, 2026, a Defendant, Ibrahim Lahai an unemployed Sierra Leonean at Forestry Quarters, arraigned before His Lordship, Hon. Justice Abdul Sheriff on the offence of House Breaking and Larceny Contrary to Section 27(2) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The Court was informed by the State Counsel, Andrew. F. Kamara on behalf of the State that Ibrahim Lahai on April 25, 2025 at Kenema City, with the intent to commit a felony, broke and entered into the dwelling house of Ramatu Conteh. He pleaded guilty and begged for mercy.
Considering that the Prosecution was successful in proving the case against the Defendant, he was found guilty as charged. Defence counsel, Patrick Kamara pleaded with the court to temper Justice with mercy onbehalf of the Convict adding that the Convict is a first-time offender and also remorseful.
In his Judgement, Justice Abdul Sheriff, considering the guilty verdict and the plea in mitigation done on behalf of the Convict for the Court to temper Justice with mercy, the convict Ibrahim Lahai was sentenced to a jail term of Eighteen months (18) imprisonment at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema including time spent. Mohamed Lahai was represented by Defence Counsel, Patrick Kamara of Legal Aid Board in Kenema.
