Magistrate Mustapha Briama-Jah of Magistrate Court No.2 in Kenema has sentenced one Sao Thomas, a labourer of How-For-Do Lorry Park in Kenema to three (3) years imprisonment for larceny.
The Accused was charged to court for larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 2816.
The particulars of offence stated that on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at How-For-Do Lorry Park in Kenema, the accused did steal by trick one bag cucumber valued at three hundred and fifty New Leones (NLe 350.00) property of one Umu Tholley.
The accused is a first-time offender. He pleaded guilty to charges and asked for mercy, but was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment.
In another news, one Charles Lamboi an unemployed youth residing at Mamie Koroma Street, Digboama in Kenema was sentenced to six (6) months imprisonment for domestic violence contrary to Section 2(1) of the Domestic Violence Act No.20 of 2007.
The accused on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at No.14 Off Mamie Koroma Street, Digboama in Kenema, unreasonably disposed one mobile phone Tecno Pop 4 valued at two thousand New Leones (NLe 2,000.00), property of one Wilifred Lamboi whom Charles Lamboi has domestic relationship with to wit grandmother.
In his Judgement, Magistrate Braima-Jah having heard from the prosecution, the fact of the case, record of the accused and the accused plea for mercy, the Magistrate did not give an alternative but a custodian sentence. He therefore sentenced the accused, Charles Lamboi to 6 months imprisonment.
The matters were prosecuted by PC 13576 Sillah Fatmata and PC 13563 Fornah Zainab.
