The Divisional Traffic Officer (DTO) of the Lungi Police Division, Sub-Inspector Augusta Mary Sesay, On Monday, 12 January 2026, led a team on an observation patrol at the Tagrin Ferry Terminal to assess the conduct and operational activities of drivers and motorbike riders within the terminal.

The patrol was aimed at evaluating traffic management, passenger safety, and compliance with existing regulations at the busy ferry terminal. During the visit, the DTO engaged a Port Authority Inspector to better understand how transport operations are managed, particularly at the port area where vehicles and riders assemble to pick up passengers.

According to the Port Authority Inspector, only private and commercial vehicles are permitted to enter the port to load passengers, while motorbike riders are restricted due to recurring misconduct. He explained that despite the restriction, some bike riders reportedly jump over the terminal fence to access passengers, while others cluster at the main entrance gate, creating congestion and inconvenience for ferry passengers disembarking from the terminal.

To verify these concerns, Sub-Inspector Sesay remained at the terminal until the arrival of the first ferry. Upon observation, she noted the challenges highlighted and acknowledged the need for urgent intervention.

The DTO assured port authorities and commuters that the matter would be escalated to the relevant authorities to identify practical and sustainable solutions aimed at improving safety, orderliness, and the overall well-being of all users of the Tagrin Ferry Terminal.
