The Fullah Tribal Administration in Sierra Leone has firmly dismissed claims of a leadership struggle within the Fullah community in Kono District, Eastern Province.
In a press release issued on May 5, 2025, the administration clarified, we set the record straight: there is no power struggle in our community, the passing of our respected tribal head was met with solemn respect, followed by a smooth and undisputed transition as his deputy assumed the role.
The release explained that Fullah traditions guided the leadership change after the late Kono chief’s passing, our succession process is rooted in respect, unity, and heritage, the administration stated, it is a structured, dignified practice that ensures stability and reflects our commitment to harmony, not division.
The administration condemned false allegations of a power struggle as misleading, noting they weaken the community’s cultural values, they urged media to report with integrity, stating,

The administration emphasized that accuracy is a duty to the communities they serve. The Fullah community remains steadfast in its dedication to progress, unity, and tradition, the release affirmed.
They pledged to honor their late leader’s legacy while moving forward with strength and solidarity, as we embrace this new chapter, we invite open dialogue to promote cooperation and respect.
