Foreign Affairs Minister Unveils Makarie Community Hall, Advocates Unity and Growth

In a compelling showcase of leadership and community dedication, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Timothy Musa Kabba, delivered an inspiring address at the official commissioning of the newly constructed Makarie Community Hall on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Built by Leone Rock Metal Group, this facility stands as a cornerstone of local development and empowerment, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of residents and leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Kabba conveyed a message of hope, inclusion, and progress, reaffirming his deep ties to Makarie chiefdom, this is my home, and your advancement is my mission, he proclaimed, Genuine development thrives when leaders remain connected to their people, empowering communities to shape their own futures.

Reflecting on his prior role as Minister of Mines and mineral resources, Kabba highlighted transformative policies, notably the 1% community development policy, mandating mining companies to allocate 1% of profits to host communities, this is not just policy it is justice,  he emphasized, for too long, our communities have seen resources extracted without reward; that changes now.

The community hall, a Leone Rock Metal Group initiative, will serve as a dynamic center for meetings, events, educational programs, and governance, fostering collaboration and resilience. Local chiefs and residents lauded the project and Kabba’s inclusive approach, this hall is more than structure it proves our voices shape the future, a community leader noted, reflecting optimism in responsible mining and governance, as Makarie celebrates this milestone Kabba’s vision of unity and sustainable development resonates nationwide, paving the way for a more equitable Sierra Leone.
