First Lady of Sierra Leone, Madam Fatima Bio, received a Special Heroes Award on behalf of his husband, President Julius Maada Bio, in The Gambia on Saturday, 25th May, 2024 at the Sir Dawda Kairaba International Conference Centre in The Gambia.

TFN Heroes Award is one of the biggest awards in The Gambia held every year by The Fatu Network (TFN), the leading online news media in The Gambia and its partners.

The TFN Heroes Award recognizes and honours outstanding and inspiring personalities from The Gambia and beyond. Awardees are people who have made significant impacts in their respective fields. This year’s event celebrated individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to their communities and professions.

The Special Heroes Award was presented to Dr. Fatima Maada Bio by the Vice President of The Gambia, Muhammed B.S. Jallow, in a ceremony that highlighted the contributions of those who strive to make a difference in society.

President Julius Maada Bio and wife Madam Fatima Bio have been pivotal in consolidating and cementing the bilateral relationship between Sierra Leone and The Gambia. Madam Fatima Bio being both a Sierra Leonean and a Gambia makes the tie between the two West African nations much stronger, especially during the Maada Bio presidency.

According to the organizers of the Heroes Award, the recognition of President Bio is connected to what they called President Bio’s “remarkable commitment” in fostering mutual beneficial relationship between the two nations and other development and diplomacy related factors.
