Her Excellency, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at empowering women and promoting social development in Sierra Leone. As a prominent figure in the country, she has played a significant role in advocating for women’s rights, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.

On January 13th, 2024, in Freetown, the First Lady scored another milestone through the strategic gathering of Sierra Leone’s female councillors at the presidential lodge, where she emphasized the importance of the Feed Salone initiative and sought their support in promoting the program within their respective communities. The dialogue aimed to empower women, who played critical role in food production and nutrition in Sierra Leone, by providing them with the necessary resources and knowledge to improve their agricultural practices and contribute to improve the country’s food security drive.

The meeting underscores her commitment to empowering women in leadership positions. By engaging in productive discussions about the Feed Salone initiative with these councillors, the First Lady recognized and appreciated their crucial role in shaping a brighter future for Sierra Leone.

This initiative not only highlights the importance of female representation in governance but also acknowledges the valuable contributions of these councillors towards progress and development.

The gathering serves as a platform to ignite pathways for progress and shared vision among female councillors.

By fostering dialogue and collaboration, the First Lady plans to create an environment where these leaders can collectively work towards addressing key challenges, implementing effective policies, and driving positive change in their respective communities. This emphasis on unity and shared vision aligns with the broader goal of advancing the economic landscape of Sierra Leone through agriculture.
