Eastern Technical University has rusticated 75 students for one academic year after they were found guilty of examination-related offences during the 2025/2026 First Semester Examinations.

In a notice issued by the University’s Public Relations Unit on 2nd July 2026, the disciplinary action followed investigations by the Disciplinary Committee into allegations of examination malpractice and the forging of examination passes. The committee concluded that all 75 students were guilty of the charges.

According to the notice, 62 of the affected students were found guilty of forging examination passes, while 13 were found guilty of examination malpractice. The University stated that the decision was reached after a thorough review of evidence presented to the committee.

“The committee carefully examined the facts before arriving at its findings and imposing disciplinary measures,” the PR officer noted.

The notice further explained that the rusticated students will not be allowed to write the Second Semester Examination and are required to collect their letters of rustication from the Deputy Registrar Administration’s office on Monday, 6th July 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

University authorities stressed that the action reflects Eastern Technical University’s commitment to maintaining academic integrity and protecting the credibility of its examination system. They emphasized that dishonesty during examinations and the use of forged documents are serious offences that undermine the value of the institution’s qualifications.

“The University will not tolerate any form of academic misconduct,” the Registry added. “Students are expected to conduct themselves responsibly and comply with examination rules and regulations at all times.”

Officials also warned that anyone found engaging in malpractice or forgery in the future would face disciplinary action in line with the institution’s policies.

The rustication serves as a reminder of the University’s determination to uphold honesty, fairness, discipline, and accountability within its academic community, ensuring that all students earn their qualifications through legitimate means.
