Hon. Tawa Conteh, Deputy Speaker & Chair of PAC

 

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, who is Chairman of the Public Account Committee (PAC), Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, has summoned forty-one (41) defaulting taxpayers with outstanding GST arrears for the Financial Year 2021 to appear before the Committee, today, Monday, 12th August, 2024.

PAC is currently probing into queries of the 2021-2022 Audit Report. Taxpayers summoned to appear before the Committee, include but not limited to, Faris International, DHL, Amafodiate Enterprise, Associate in Infrastructure and Consultancies (AITAC), Chami International Sales Corporation, Chicken Town (SL) Ltd, Dycar Vending Services Ltd, Escotel (SL), F Soufan and Sons, Impex General Trading (S/L) Ltd, and International Earthmoving Construction.

In a press release issued out by the PAC, the Committee clerk stated that, “In accordance with the resolution adopted by the PAC on the 3rd July, 2024, and pursuant to Section 90 of the Goods and Services Tax Act, 2009, you are required to appear before the Committee at the conference hall of the Administrative Building of Parliament on Monday, 12th August, 2024, with proof of settlement of all outstanding GST arrears.”

According to the press release, any entity that fails to comply with the notice may result in further enforcement actions as prescribed by law.
