His Worship, Magistrate Brima. S. Samai of Magistrate Court No.2 in Kenema has on April 28, 2026, sent to jail Lahai Bawoh a farmer of Panguma Town for unlawful possession of small arm without Authority Contrary to Section 19 subsection 2 (a) of Act No.14 of 1955 as repealed and replaced by section 10 of No.7 of 1972. He was jailed twelve (12)months Imprisonment or pay the sum claimed in the file. The charges were read to the Defendant by Emmanuel Cooper the Registrar of the court. He told the court that the Defendant, Lahai Bawoh, on April 21, 2026, at Ngielima Police Checkpoint, Ngielima village, Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District in the Eastern province of Sierra Leone, was found in possession of a short gun(Pistol) without lawful Authority.
In a separate development, Mohamed Abdul Mansaray a businessman residing at Burma 3 Section in Kenema, arraigned before Magistrate Samai on Three Count charges ranging from Domestic violence contrary to section 2 subsection 1 (a) of the Domestic Violence Act No.20 of 2007 to Domestic Violence Contrary to Section 2 subsection 1 (c) of the Domestic Violence Act No.20 of 2007. A Defendant, Mohamed Abdul Mansaray on April 14, 2026, at Burma Three Section in Kenema, physically assaulted Mojama Sheriff whom he has a Domestic relationship to wit wife. The Defendant on the afformentioned date and Venue, intentionally induced fear in Mojama Sheriff by threatened to kill her whom he has a Domestic relationship. Mohamed Abdul Mansaray on the same date and place, emotionally abused Mojama Sheriff by making her feel constantly unhappy, stress, degraded or worthless whom he has a Domestic relationship to wit wife. He pleaded guilty on count one and not guilty on count Two and count Three respectively. He was found guilty by the court and sent to jail at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre (SLCC) in Kenema for Twenty-Four (24) months imprisonment or pay the sum claimed in the file.
The matters were prosecuted by Police Inspector, Aiah Mafinda Teh and Woman Police Constable,18818 Samai. F. Fatima.
