The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is celebrating the installation of artificial turf at fields in the country. While we acknowledge that the project has some positive effects on the game of football internally, the focus should be on developing stadia to promote Sierra Leonean football internationally. With stadia, we can host international events like the Zone 2, African Nations Cup, and African Champions League. We are still very far from hosting any international tournament as we go to press there’s only one mini stadium functioning right now in the country

The Government of Sierra Leone is renovating the Siaka Stevens Stadium in Freetown, and we have the Babadi Southern Arena. The SLFA should prioritize new stadia projects in Sierra Leone instead of settling for minor developments like artificial turf at various Felds, which only attract local events. We should aim for hosting big events like the Africa Cup of Nations or the Confederation Cup to attract tourism and business opportunities for our players and the country.

The SLFA needs to elevate its standards. Late Nahim Khadi established the Kenton Academy as a legacy, and now former SLFA President Isha Johansen and current FA President Thomas Daddy Brima are celebrating artificial turf at Coronation Fields. We need to strive for visible development like Babadi Kamara’s impact on the game of football.
Charity begins at home. Babadi Kamara transformed Bo Rangers from a relegation battle team to the top club in Sierra Leone and one of the best in Africa in terms of infrastructure, standards, and organization. He also contributed to economic growth in the country by making football a viable job.

Sierra Leoneans need to set an example by dreaming big and aiming high. Let’s focus on building more stadiums to compete with our counterparts in Africa rather than settling for developments like Coronation Fields. It’s time to vote for Babadi Kamara for positive change in Sierra Leonean
Even when it comes to athletics, Sierra Leone has only two stadia, one in Freetown and the other in Bo. So building stadia across Sierra Leone is very important
