The other day, there were talks about how Nigerian singer, Mayorkun who failed to appreciate Sierra Leonean singer and TikToker, Jacob the Therapist having performed the remix of the latter’s ‘Nack’ song at the O2 Arena during Davido’s concert.

Social media was flooded with a range of libertarian perspectives when the incident happened, but one thing that cannot be taken away is the fact that it was publicity for Jacob and for Sierra Leone. The fact that the stage was a huge one cannot be contested. It is surely a win, but what does this mean for future collabs?

Our artists and musicians should continue to see reason to invest time, resources and everything in all they do. This is important for quality service delivery and meeting set objectives.
According to a noticeable perspective, ‘art not only nourishes people spiritually, but also plays an important role in their physical development. It is important to understand the role of music in moral and aesthetic education and its importance in educating the younger generation. Music is a powerful tool to know life and educate people.’
This takes me back to an article I had earlier written on a similar subject matter. Our artists have to see music as a carrier. They do not have to fall on it just because a few other things may not have worked. That is not a way to go. Passion and commitment are critical aspects of every endeavor. This is where it is necessary for our compatriots to understand and master crafts before venturing into the said fields.
Say what you may, Nigeria and Ghana did not become very big overnight. What we see today are years of hard work, dedication and unmatched resilience. Getting to those stages will therefore mean that our compatriots do same if not more.
By now, we all may have been used to the adage ‘Rome was not built in a day.’ It therefore goes without saying that we must speedup and build up with and on our existing structures because in the end, when there is positivity, we all would be glad enough to share some bits of those progressives.
Like I would always note, we may not have it all, but there are things we all could equally do to get to some higher and appreciable heights. The fans have a role to play too. Streaming songs, to commenting and liking via various social media handles etc. And yes, the more we do these things, the better we get at same.
