The National Early Warning and Response Mechanism Centre Sierra Leone (NEWRMC) hosted a high-level delegation from Turkey, led by the Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Turkey, Madam Francess Virgina Anderson, on Monday 18th May 2026. The visit aimed at exploring Sierra Leone’s business climate, with a focus on human security.

In her opening remarks, Ambassador Anderson highlighted Sierra Leone’s hospitality and commitment to regional and international cooperation. She assured the delegation of 100% support from the Government of Sierra Leone, emphasizing the President’s call for private sector growth.

The Executive Director of NEWRMC, Mrs. Francess A.M. Nyuma delivered a comprehensive presentation on the centre’s mandate and operations.

Mrs. Nyuma outlined NEWRMC’s role in ECOWARN, established under Article 58 of the 1993 ECOWAS Treaty, and its key areas of focus, including security, crime, governance, health, and environment. The centre’s reports and thematic areas were also presented.

She reminded the delegation of following the right procedure in doing business in the country.
“Feel free to reach out to us whenever the need arises,” she assured them.

The Turkish delegation, representing TÜRKALLAR, a company with expertise in agriculture, trade, and construction, sought to understand Sierra Leone’s human security landscape and potential investment opportunities. TÜRKALLAR’s profile highlights its commitment to maximizing productivity for local farmers and developing high-value real estate projects.

The owner of TÜRKALLAR Mr. Nihat Ozdogan, expressed interest in exploring partnerships in Sierra Leone’s agricultural sector, citing the country’s fertile land and potential for increased food production. “We are impressed by Sierra Leone’s potential and look forward to contributing to the country’s development through investments in agriculture and infrastructure,” he said.

The visit concluded with discussions on Sierra Leone’s business environment and potential areas for collaboration. The centre’s Executive Director expressed optimism that the engagement would foster greater understanding and cooperation between TÜRKALLAR and Sierra Leonean stakeholders.
