In a proactive operation driven by community-led policing, the Kenema Police have arrested Ishmael Kallon of No. 5 Hassan Street, Kenema City, with 25 bundles and 21 sachets of dried leaves suspected to be Kush.
Wednesday, 6 August 2025, in an exclusive interview, Sergeant 9441 Ahmid Kamara, head of the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) for the Eastern Region, revealed that the arrest was made possible through intelligence provided by a concerned citizen, whose identity is being protected for safety reasons. He stressed that intelligence-led policing is a key pillar in the police’s efforts to combat drug-related crimes.
From an operational standpoint, Regional Commander-East, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Francis Moses Tower, noted that under his leadership, the police have made significant progress in apprehending drug traffickers and reducing illicit drug activities in the region. He vowed that the police will continue their relentless efforts until the Eastern Region is free of such crimes.
AIG Tower reaffirmed the police’s steadfast commitment to crime prevention and assured the public that updates on this kush-related arrest will be shared promptly, the investigation is ongoing, with the suspect and seized substances currently in police custody.
