British actor and entrepreneur Idris Elba, alongside his Sherbro Alliance Partners (SAP) Ltd team, made a courtesy visit to His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio at the Presidential Lodge, on Thursday 26 June 2025, the meeting celebrated the government’s support and the recent parliamentary ratification of the transformative Sherbro Island investment project.

This visit underscores a critical step forward in the ambitious public-private partnership to reshape Sherbro Island into a vibrant center for tourism, business, and economic prosperity. Elba expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, I thank the Government and Parliament for ratifying the Sherbro Alliance Partners agreement, this milestone reflects years of dedication, and with your support, Mr. President, we’re eager to enter this new phase.

Highlighting the project’s personal resonance, Elba noted President Bio’s Bonthe District roots, saying, Sherbro Island is close to your heart, and we’re honored to partner with you to bring this vision to fruition,  president Bio echoed this sentiment, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to fostering investment and tourism, this project, tied to my heritage, holds immense potential to boost Sierra Leone’s economy, he said, it’s our duty to make this nation an investment haven, and this is just the start.

The Sherbro Alliance Partners Project aims to modernize Sherbro Island, driving job creation and establishing Sierra Leone as a regional economic hub.
