In a significant legal development on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the sexual offense case against Mohammed Kamara was formally committed to the High Court in Kenema.
Kamara, who is facing serious charges of sexual penetration and assault, made another appearance before Magistrate Wilbri Hamida M. John at Magistrate Court No. 1. during the hearing, the prosecution officially closed its case after several sittings involving witness testimonies and the presentation of evidence.
Due to the sensitive and traumatic nature of the allegations, parts of the proceedings were held in chambers to protect the identity and emotional well-being of the victim a standard practice in sexual offense cases.
The case, which has drawn significant public interest, will now move to the high court for trial, where the accused will face a full judicial process.
Leading the prosecution is Sergeant 4654 Backar Watta from the Legal and Justice support department in Kenema, who has diligently pursued the matter since its inception.
