CSP Ms. Sia Bernadette Sandi, Head of Administration for Bo East Division, led a Community Relations Department (CRD) team to Boama Chiefdom to promote peace before Sierra Leone’s upcoming local elections. Joined by a journalist from Radio Voice of Faith 89.3 FM, they shared non-violence messages, per 2025 police records.
With elections nearing, the team aimed to spread peace in Boama’s towns. They started in Gerehun, the chiefdom’s main town, and visited Yamandu, Boama Station, and Jembeh Town, reaching hundreds of residents, per CRD reports.
Inspector John Lansana Sarty, CRD head, urged people to stay calm during elections. voting is not a fight, he said, we are all family here, be patient and keep peace, His words called for unity and forgiveness, per 2025 campaign notes.
Radio journalist Mr. Ibrahim spoke in Mende, asking voters to act peacefully. Violence causes lasting anger, he warned. We live together, so let’s vote with love.” He said the police created this campaign to help people vote bravely, per radio records.
Chiefs and leaders also told their communities to follow the police’s peace message. Police shared hotline numbers for reporting problems before election day, per CRD logs The team returned safely to Bo East Division on SLP 337, boosting hope for a peaceful election.
