Masakong Chiefdom in Tonkolili District was filled with joy and celebration on February 26, 2025, as Hon. Daniel Fornah, the All People’s Congress (APC) Member of Parliament, officially launched the construction of two bridges and two culverts at Mabombo Junction. The much-needed infrastructure project aims to enhance connectivity between villages and improve transportation in the region.

During the ceremony, Hon. Fornah handed over construction materials worth millions of leones to the project engineers. These included 150 bags of cement, pickaxes, iron rods, and nails—essential supplies that will kick-start the construction work. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that the initiative is part of his commitment to giving back to the community, especially after their overwhelming support in the 2023 elections.

He acknowledged the challenges that residents have endured due to poor road conditions, which have made travel difficult, particularly during the rainy season. “I understand the hardships you face, and this project is a step towards easing your burden. I urge all of you to take ownership of it and ensure that the materials are used properly,” he said.

The launch was met with excitement from community members, who have long awaited such development. Alpha Turay, Youth Leader of Makump Gbolu, expressed gratitude on behalf of the youth, commending Hon. Fornah for fulfilling a promise that had been overlooked by previous leaders. He assured that the community would fully support and monitor the project’s progress to ensure its successful completion.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including fellow APC lawmakers Hon. Aruna Papay Larkoh and Hon. Daniel Amadu Bangura, who praised Hon. Fornah’s efforts in championing infrastructural development in his constituency.

Residents of Masakong Chiefdom now look forward to the timely completion of the bridges and culverts, which will not only ease movement but also boost economic activities by improving access to markets, healthcare, and schools. The project marks a significant milestone in the development of the chiefdom, further strengthening the bond between the people and their elected representative.
