E.U. lauds A.U. for historic continental free trade pact, pledges support

European Union (E.U.) Commission has lauded the African Union (A.U.) over the historic March 21 continental trade pact that was signed by over forty countries

In a groundbreaking development for Sierra Leone’s petroleum sector, Aminata and Sons limited has on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Cline Town, east Freetown lunched its branch in the country. The company is one of the renowned, oldest-serving, and the biggest petroleum providers in Liberia.

Delivering his keynote address, Chief Minister Dr  David M. Sengeh, while thanking everyone who graced the occasion, advised the young people of the country to be serious, noting that 70% of the country’s population are below the ages of 35.
According to the Chief minister, the company has created about one hundred jobs adding that it will eventually expand to five hundred jobs.  He said that the government is committed to providing fuel sustainability while assuring the investors that their investment is safe

In her welcome statement, Anita Thomas, sales and marketing manager of Aminata and Sons SL limited expressed gratitude while welcoming attendees, saying that the company has been in neighboring Liberia for more than Forty years and that the launch of the company was to extend the legacy.

“We want to assure the people of Sierra Leone for consistency and sustainability”, she noted, adding that beyond energy, her company is in quest to provide job opportunities to potential employees. She appreciated the government of Sierra Leone and the leadership of Aminata for bringing Aminata to Sierra Leone.

Chief Mohammed S Bah, rep of the community said the people are very much aware of the company and urged the company to uphold Corperate Social Responsibility and to help reduce fuel scarcity in the country.

Madam Easter Neufville, president of the Liberia petroleum importers association, shared her experience with Amina and Sons back in Liberia, noting that it is inspiring to see Africans taking over their destiny and that collaboration is very helpful to achieve remarkably. As the only female importer of the fuel products in Liberia, she said that the sector is highly competitive.

The executive chairman of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency Sierra Leone, Brima Baluwa Koroma thanked Amina and Sons Sierra Leone Limited for something he referred to as ‘massive investment’, adding that the government of President Bio is poised to do more.
“This is a clear indication that we are in the right track” the PRA boss voiced, saying that the operators must intensify their service delivery.

Founder of Aminata and Sons Limited, Mr. Sheka Turay thanked the government of Sierra Leone and people for accepting his investment into the country, saying his company has been able to do cross boarder investment in Liberia, Guinea and now Sierra Leone. He added that their objectives are to ensure they supply high quality products, satisfying both employees and customers.
