Members of the Twins and Multiple Births Sierra Leone (TMB-SL) Bo Chapter On Monday, May 26, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Bo District Council, Victor Korseh Hindowa, at his office in the Falaba Section of Bo City.
The delegation, led by twin brothers and Chapter Coordinators Peter and Paul Kamara, received a warm welcome from Chairman Hindowa during the visit, which aimed to build mutual understanding and explore avenues for collaboration.
In his opening remarks, Paul Kamara expressed heartfelt appreciation to the chairman for making time to meet with the team. He highlighted the organization’s core mission: to advocate for the welfare of twins and multiple birth families, challenge negative myths and harmful stereotypes, and foster a strong sense of identity and belonging among families of twins.
Peter Kamara further explained that the visit served as a formal introduction of the Bo Chapter to the district’s leadership and a step toward preparing for the upcoming National Twins Day Celebration, slated to take place in Bo City this July, he described the celebration as a national convergence of twins, multiples, and their families from across Sierra Leone an inclusive event promoting unity, culture, and awareness.
The delegation also used the opportunity to provide a broader overview of the organization’s activities and to seek the chairman’s support for the successful planning and execution of the celebration.
Responding to the team, Chairman Hindowa expressed delight at their visit and commended their initiative; he shared insights into the mandate of the Bo District Council, emphasizing its role in facilitating community development, local governance, and support for community-based organizations (CBOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and international NGOs (INGOs).
Revealing a personal connection to twins within his own family, Chairman Hindowa reflected on the special bond that twins share and even joked about his wish to have twins one day. He praised the organization’s mission and encouraged the team to broaden their focus beyond welfare and cultural advocacy, he urged them to incorporate issues such as gender-based violence, child protection, and early marriage prevention especially in vulnerable communities where twins may face discrimination or neglect.
He also advised the team to build strategic alliances with other like-minded organizations to strengthen their influence and reach, drawing on his own background in the NGO sector, Chairman Hindowa acknowledged the challenges faced by new organizations but encouraged the TMB-SL Bo Chapter to remain focused, resilient, and committed.
Pledging his full support, Chairman Victor Korseh Hindowa assured the team of his commitment to promoting the organization’s work within the district, he promised to actively support and participate in the National Twins Day Celebration and offered to serve as a mentor and advisor to the group whenever needed.
In closing, the TMB-SL Bo chapter expressed deep gratitude for the chairman’s hospitality and encouragement, they reaffirmed their commitment to developing a strong and lasting partnership with the Bo District Council as they work to improve the lives of twins and multiple birth families across Sierra Leone.
