The war in Ukraine of recent and the oil cartel, OPEC (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries) have held the world to ransom. The dependence on oil for energy has emboldened the OPEC countries and this has made them very rich at the expense of other countries. They control the market to the point that they decide what is put up for sale or what is not. Even when stocks are available the OPEC members create artificial scarcity and keep the prices high. Modern day living requires the use of petroleum products for energy supply. This has impacted on the other sectors in the economy. And inflation across the world has gone up exponentially. While rich countries have suffered from the hike in the prices of petroleum products poor countries like Sierra Leone are suffering most. The world economy has so much become unequal that something needs to be done and fast.

Other forms of energy supply are available to us, one of which is solar. Solar energy is one that is harnessed through the sun. A little technology is only needed to let it serve humans in Sierra Leone. Solar energy is an alternative source of energy that is gaining traction in the world. And as OPEC is pushing things too much to exploit the situation to their selfish advantage, the solar industry is slowly gaining relevance as it is by far cheaper and more reliable. As long as the sun shines there is bound to be energy supply. Wind energy is also another alternative but solar energy is proving to be the best option. Solar companies are seizing on this as they are becoming proliferated across the world as demand increases. To stem economic inequality, other forms of energy supply are needed right now. This is because economies around the world are struggling and crumbling due to petroleum hoarding. Governments around the world must embrace this solar energy supply to save their citizens. Russia in the fight against Ukraine are denying the world oil as a weapon of war which had led to inflation across the world. So, if we explore energy from solar and the dependence on oil reduces then they are likely to put enough supply in the market which is going to see reduction in price.
