The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has issued technical team requirements for clubs participating in the country’s various domestic leagues ahead of the 2026/27 football season.
The directive covers coaching and technical positions across the Leone Rock Premier League, National Division One men’s and women’s competitions, National Division Two, and the Marampa Mines Women’s Premier League.
According to the SLFA, the requirements are aimed at strengthening the technical capacity of clubs, promoting professional practices and improving governance within Sierra Leone’s domestic football structure.
The latest directive places particular emphasis on the qualifications, roles and composition of club technical teams as preparations intensify for the new football season.
Clubs have been encouraged to review their existing technical structures and address any gaps before the commencement of league competitions. The association warned that failure to meet the prescribed requirements could result in compliance challenges during the season.
The move forms part of the SLFA’s broader efforts to raise standards across domestic football by ensuring that clubs operate with properly qualified and structured technical teams.
The association believes that stronger technical structures are essential to improving coaching standards, player development and the overall competitiveness of Sierra Leonean football.
The requirements apply to clubs competing at different levels of the domestic game, including both men’s and women’s competitions, underscoring the SLFA’s focus on establishing consistent technical standards across the football pyramid.
With the 2026/27 season approaching, clubs are expected to use the remaining preparation period to ensure that their coaching and technical departments meet the association’s stipulated standards.
The SLFA has therefore urged all participating clubs to treat compliance as a key component of their preparations, stressing that professional technical management remains an important foundation for the sustainable development of football in Sierra Leone.
The new framework is expected to shape the composition and operation of technical teams when domestic league competitions get underway for the 2026/27 campaign.
