The Sierra Leone Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia, generously contributed assorted food items and sanitary materials to Sierra Leonean prisoners at the Monrovia Central Prison on December 27th, 2023.
The Deputy Ambassador, representing President Julius Maada Bio and Ambassador Eddie S. Massally, conveyed greetings and assured ongoing support to the inmates. Emphasizing their commitment, he mentioned a follow-up for exploring the possible release of those convicted on minor offenses.
Expressing gratitude, Head of Chancery Sia A. Tejan thanked the Monrovia Central Prison administration for their care.
Deputy Superintendent of the Prison Administration, Mr. Joel J.G Juah praised the Embassy’s support for the 25 Sierra Leonean inmates, promising to inform relevant authorities about the donation.
Speaking on behalf of his fellow prisoners, one of the inmates thanked the Embassy and appealed for intervention in their release, emphasizing that while the items were appreciated, nothing compares to freedom.
The presentation, carried out by Deputy Ambassador Jonathan Saffa, Head of Chancery Sia A. Tejan, and Community Liaison Officer Mohamed A.S. Wai, underscored the Embassy’s commitment to the well-being of Sierra Leonean citizens, whatever their circumstances.
