Excitement is building across the capital as Silver Spoon Movies prepares to premiere its latest production, Overseas Connection, at Golden Beach Cinema on April 25, 2026. The highly anticipated event is scheduled to begin with a red-carpet reception at exactly 8:30 PM and is expected to draw film lovers, industry stakeholders, and dignitaries from across the country and beyond.
The management of the project is calling on all Sierra Leoneans, both at home and in the diaspora, to come out in large numbers to support what they describe as a landmark moment for the nation’s growing film industry. Organizers say the premiere will not only serve as a platform to showcase local talent but also as a day of remembrance, celebration, and entertainment for the people of Freetown.
“Overseas Connection” is an action-packed drama centered on themes of crime, survival, loyalty, and the complex connections that extend beyond national borders. According to the production team, the film carries a strong message aimed at educating young people while inspiring them to pursue positive paths in life.
What makes the project particularly noteworthy is its strong local representation. Approximately 90 percent of the production team, actors and crew involved in the production are Sierra Leoneans who are passionate about elevating the country’s film industry. The cast members have expressed excitement about the premiere and are eager to showcase their talents to a wider audience.
Speaking ahead of the event, the film’s director and writer, Mr. Mo shaw, a Sierra Leonean based in Sweden, emphasized his commitment to transforming the local film sector into a globally recognized industry. He called on Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), other government institutions, non-governmental organizations, and content creators to attend the premiere and lend their support.
“This is more than just a movie premiere,” he noted. “It is a movement to push Sierra Leone’s film industry to greater heights. We are encouraging everyone to believe in local content and support the creative sector.”
Mr. shaw revealed that the inspiration for “Overseas Connection” stems from over 25 years of experience in filmmaking, dating back to his early days as a student actor and writer. Over the years, he has been involved in producing numerous films both locally and internationally, building a reputation for storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences.
He also addressed long-standing perceptions about local films, noting that while some audiences previously showed little interest in Sierra Leonean productions, this film represents a turning point. “This is an exceptional, powerful, and well-crafted movie. I want people to watch it, experience it, and tell their own stories afterward,” he said.
Tickets for the premiere are already on sale, with VIP access priced at Le 1,000 and VVIP tickets at Le 2,500. Organizers describe the event as “small money for big enjoyment,” promising an evening filled with glamour, entertainment, and cinematic excellence.
Industry observers believe that productions like “Overseas Connection” signal a positive shift in Sierra Leone’s creative landscape. With increasing investment, growing talent, and a renewed sense of purpose among filmmakers, the country is gradually positioning itself on the global stage.
As anticipation continues to build, all eyes are now on April 25, when audiences will gather at Lumley Beach Road for what promises to be a memorable night. For many, the premiere represents not just the unveiling of a film, but a bold step forward for Sierra Leone’s film industry.
Everything is set, and the message from the organizers is clear: come out, support local talent, and experience the reality of “Overseas Connection”.
