The National Reformation Movement (NRM) has, on Sunday, June 30, 2024 in Freetown, completed its 3rd National Delegates Convention, where Philip Milo Kamara was elected as Chairman.
NRM is an offshoot group that emerged from the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) after it lost the 2018 general elections.
Philip Milo Kamara, who contested against one Abdul Karim Kufior, won with six votes online and one hundred and eighty-three presence votes (183) whiles Kufior got four votes from online fourteen votes presence totalling it eighteen (18) votes.
Announcing the result, Mr. Alhaji Foday Conteh, who served as Chief Returning Officer pronounced Philip Milo Kamara as the newly elected chairman of the NRM and Amara Kamara who secured one hundred and eighty-two votes as the new Secretary General of the movement.
Expressing excitement, the newly elected Chairman, Philip Milo Kamara expressed thanks and appreciation to all those who participated in the convention and voted him as their new leader. He stated that as a founding member of the NRM, the movement is to ensure the right thing is done and not to fight the party. He furthered that when the APC is constrained it is the responsibility of the young people to support the party, adding that his leadership will ensure justice is done to the party, going forward, stressing the party should not be going to court for every problem but should be able to settle it internally.
“Peace and unity of the APC are paramount to all of us,” he told delegates. He assured his determination to assiduously work with the APC to ensure that the party regains State House, come 2028.
A member of the delegates, Ayisah Habib, expressed hope that the leadership of Mr. Philip Milo Kamara will bring positive change to young people and party in general, saying their new chairman has always been preaching peace among members.
