NRA Elevates Tax Awareness at Presidential Town Hall in Kenema

the National Revenue Authority (NRA) showcased its dedication to civic engagement and public accountability by actively participating in the Presidential Town Hall Meeting, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, organized by the ministry of information and Civic Education (MoICE), this event drew hundreds of residents to engage directly with his excellency the president on governance, economic development, and national priorities, with NRA playing a pivotal role.

Leading the NRA delegation was deputy commissioner general Mrs. Ann-Marie Baby Harding, standing in for the commissioner general, she emphasized the authority’s strategic importance in public financial management, seamlessly weaving tax education into the national conversation. An NRA outreach booth, brimming with Information, education, and communication (IEC) materials, became a hub of activity. Knowledgeable staff addressed taxpayer queries, clarified compliance obligations, and guided attendees on accessing NRA services, offering real-time support to local traders, entrepreneurs, and citizens.

The response was overwhelmingly positive. Participants praised the NRA’s accessibility, appreciating the rare chance to interact with tax officials. Local authorities echoed this sentiment, hailing the initiative as a vital bridge between rural communities and national institutions. Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, lauded the NRA’s steadfast support, highlighting its crucial role in sustaining government services through effective domestic revenue mobilization.

The event concluded with the Chief Minister, sector ministers, and heads of key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) engaging NRA officials, reinforcing the Authority’s centrality to national revenue targets. As Kenema reflects tonight, the NRA’s commitment to expanding tax education, building public trust, and promoting voluntary compliance shines as a cornerstone of Sierra Leone’s development agenda.
