The Leone Rock Metal Group has on Friday, November 22, 2024, supported the Sierra Leone Premier league with amount of three million, three hundred and eighty-eight thousand, one hundred mad Seventy Leones (3,388,170NLe) valued at one and fifty thousand united states dollars ($150,000).

In a press conference organized at the Radisson Blu hotel conference hall in Freetown, signifies the commitment of Leone Rock in supporting local talent especially advancing football and to contributing towards economic development in Sierra Leone. Sport is among the things that brings citizens together and Forster unity across the African country. In the last season of the Leone Rock premier league, Sierra Leoneans witnessed an electrifying game and more of those games are expected to be played in the weeks or months.

The singing of the memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Leone Rock and Sierra Leone Premier league is a testament to the collaboration between and advancing actors and meaningful partnership.

Delivering her keynote address, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Sport, Madam Augusta James Teima thanked Leone Rock for supporting football in the country, noting the MOU will help bring football to the peak, adding government is happy for the company to make such commitment for the second time and to make sure the youth engage in what they like doing. “Sport is life, no way we can live without sport” she asserted while drawing attendees to the scientific aspect of sport and that ‘if movement doesn’t take the pregnant woman will not survive’.

The minister advised everyone to embrace Sport, noting for someone to talk about development in a nation sport plays a greater part. “Without development we won’t be able to bring the peace that will help us to live a better life” she underscored, adding sport is one means that can be used to unite people in a society.

Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Leone Rock metal group, Salim Sillah, alluded that his company is contributing immensely across the country and the premier league is the biggest sponsor they are doing, noting they want to see the league run like a cooperate institution while thanking the Chief Executive Officer of the company. He added that they had asked for a closure report for the past premiere league they sponsored in the country something he would help know they can provide more support to the sporting sector while explaining the significance of closure report. He added that his company is committed to supporting football in the African country and they have supporting everyone beyond politics, tribal and region.

Mr. Sillah noted that the signing of the MOU was to celebrate excellence and that they were certified with the conduct of the premier league last season, saying his company did not support anyone nor a team something he said is not their business. “Our business is to support football as something that change the lives of people and something that benefit a country as a whole.”

Dr. Emmanual Saffa Abdulai, NSA executive director, thanked Leone Rock for their commitment in improving football in Sierra Leone, noting this is the first private sector is investing the amount the metal group invested, adding that government is giving more money into the sporting sector in the African country. “Sport particular football is a multi-billion dollar” he underscored emphasizing that the private sector has a major contribution to developing football.

Thomas Daddy Brima, Sierra Leone Football Association President, thanked the company for investing in football, noting what Leone Rock is doing is something that some citizens might have done long time ago. “The reality of football is a competitive World” he noted. “When you play, you play by the rules of the game” he pointed
