The Honourable Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Mr. Julius Daniel Mattai, along with a distinguished delegation, arrived in the city on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to participate in the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2025). This high-profile event, running from June 18 to June 21, 2025, offers a global platform to advance Sierra Leone’s mining interests.
The delegation includes the Director General of the National Minerals Agency, Mr. Hadji Dabo, alongside several directors from both the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and the National Minerals Agency. Upon arrival, Minister Mattai and his team received a warm welcome from His Excellency Ambassador Mohamed Yongawo and his accompanying delegation, setting a collaborative tone for the forum.
Minister Mattai is set to deliver impactful speeches across various sessions, spotlighting Sierra Leone’s mineral potential. He will also engage in critical sideline meetings with key mining sector stakeholders and participate in roundtable discussions with investors, aiming to attract significant investment. These interactions underscore Sierra Leone’s strategic push to enhance its mining industry on the global stage.
