Masjid Assary

Authorities of the Masjid Abi Musa Assary say the facility needs renovation. The Wellington Muslims Association, central masjid, is one of the oldest in the Eastern-end part of Freetown.

Over the years, members of the worship centre have been trying to do some minor renovations, but have now decided to reach out to other well-meaning Sierra Leoneans to see that they are able to complete the project.

Sheik Abass Sheku Kamara, Chief Imam of the masjid said that the importance of the venture cannot be overstated. He said that there is need for worship and religious centres to be convenient, adding that such will give people the urge to supplicate.

‘I am making special appeal to the Muslim Ummah and non-Muslims because our masjid needs renovation,’ he said. A real facelift is needed for our place of worship, he continued.

Mary Kallon, the acting chair lady of the masjid said that she has been in the masjid for over ten years, stating that they had tried their best, but that they are now coming out to ask from other persons that may wish to be of help.
