High Court in Kenema

The High Court in Kenema, presided over by Hon. Justice Abdul Sheriff, has sentenced Mohamed Koroma to three years’ imprisonment for the offence of larceny in a dwelling house, according to the prosecution, on February 11, 2025, the convict, Mohamed Koroma, unlawfully broke and entered the residence of Alice Nyallay at Morray Town Section in Kenema and stole properties valued at Thirty-Three Thousand and Fifty New Leones (NLe 33,050). The court found him guilty and ordered that he serve his sentence at the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) in Kenema.

In a separate matter, Foday Fofanah, Abdul Karim Jalloh, and Joseph Ansu were brought before Justice Abdul Sheriff on charges of conspiracy to steal cattle, larceny of goats, and receiving stolen goods, according to the prosecution, between January 5 and June 24, 2024, in Pujehun Village, Lower Bambara Chiefdom, Kenema Judicial District, the accused Foday Fofanah allegedly stole goats valued at Two Thousand New Leones (NLe 2,000), the property of Adama Eddy. Abdul Karim Jalloh was charged with receiving stolen goods, while Joseph Ansu was charged as an accessory after the fact.

However, all three accused persons were discharged due to insufficient evidence presented by the prosecution, the matters were prosecuted by Andrew F. Kamara, State Counsel and Customary Law Officer for Kenema District, the accused were represented by Defence Counsel Samuel S. Pessima of the Legal Aid Board for Kenema and Kailahun Districts.
