A team of police investigators headed by the Regional Crime Officer for the Eastern Region, ASP Mohamed Feika, has visited the scene of a violence case that reportedly resulted to the death of a woman said to have been beaten to death by her husband.
The incident took place on November 14, 2024 in Jao Teama, Kenema District. According to preliminary investigation, the perpetrator, who was identified as Fodie Sonny, allegedly beat her mercilessly and she became unconscious and later died whilst they were taken her to the health center at Jao Teama.
The NCO Crime, Jajua Lansana, received a report from one Chief Alimamy on the same date the incident occurred and he immediately informed his RCO who formed a team to visit the scene immediately. Consequently, the team discovered the lifeless body of the victim, identified as Mojama Sheku.
The alleged perpetrator, Foday Sonny, who was also her husband, was apprehended at the scene and has been taken into custody for further investigation.
The Regional Crime Officer has expressed concern over the rising incidents of violence in the region and stated that the tragic event projects the urgent need for community awareness and intervention in cases of domestic violence that is becoming very alarming. He assured the people of justice and emphasized that such incidents need to be addressed with the seriousness it deserved so as to deter its re-occurrence. Mr. Feika urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
The deceased has been transported to the Government Hospital in Kenema for an autopsy to be conducted in order to determine the exact cause of the death.
