Dear Tech, I am sure that you and I are very aware that the Youyi Building elevator is yet to be fixed. What is really happening? It is worrisome that we are taking forever to address some of such pressing concerns. This is not a way to go. How long must we call on authorities to act fast? It appears as if they are not too bothered, otherwise we shouldn’t be writing about this at this time in the first place. When we attempt to ignore certain things, we are attempting to say that we care less and that is surely not a good example. I hope that by the time we express another opinion on that elevator, it would have been in some good working conditions.
FBC Exams – So we are still in times when students get admission to study at USL, but will not pay fees? How soon will we end this tradition? This is not a way to go. The college has to pay and do things with a lot of cash. Where will that money come from? In summary, parents and guardians must really brace up. For continuing students, just 50% payment of fees is fine, but sadly, we have people that have not paid a single cent. How troubling! May there be progress in the coming years!
Sea Transportation Safety – We all saw what happened to popular Nollywood actor, Jnr. Pope. The stories have been endless, but in the end, we lost him. On that boat ride, maybe and just maybe, a life jacket would have saved the day, but not really. As a people, we must resist the pressure of taking certain risks. We know that death is inevitable, but we also ought to take extra care in doing things. May the souls of the departed rest in peace and I hope that back here in Sierra Leone, more safety measures will be adopted especially on sea transportation.
We all saw what happened to the Port Authority Football Club. May the souls of the departed rest well, but that should also remind us all that our roads are not safe and that drivers and businesses must use extra care. Some things could be avoided. We all believe in destiny, but let us make reasonable efforts to put an end to some casualties.
In Freetown, it appears as if some people are back with the habits of throwing and placing dirt all over the place. We always talk about decency and the duty to self, but you wonder why some people will take trash all the way from their homes; only to dispose same in the streets? That is so unfortunate. FCC should get more laws for defaulters. This is terrible.
