USL – How long will it take for the USL/MTHE saga to come to an end? Already, things appear to be on standstill. MTHE dissolved the university court, but the uni says it does not recognize the decision. The other day, MTHE appointed Prof. Lawrence Kamara as Ag. VC&P, but Pa Kamara recently tendered his resignation, just days after his appointment. The USL court had also appointed Prof. Mohamed Samai as Pro Vice Chancellor with powers to also act as VC&P. Where are we at present? Registrar Olive and Finance Controller Mackay have also been sent on leave pending investigations. The other day, we called on President Bio to come in settle this brouhaha, but we are not sure what is happening. If the graduation is to hold in April as planned, WE MUST FIX THESE IRREGULARITIES SOONEST AND NOW!

Waka Fine – It looks like President Bio and his government are a bit constrained to instantaneously listen to the masses in many respects? Now, we all have agreed that the Waka Fine buses are a good mechanism, but can we revisit a few things? One – Bring the price to Le 5. That is the actual fare. Do not create a way for other commercial vehicles to take Le 10 from people for even shorter distances. We really need to regulate a lot of things in this place. Again, why must we divert other vehicles all because the Waka Fine guys are on the road. That is not a way to go. Improving the transportation system does not mean that we should inconvenient others. WE NEED TO FIX THIS!

Okada – I am not sure if the bike riders’ union if FULLY REGULATING the activities of some of the bike riders. Aside professionalism, some of them are just NOT UP TO THE TASK. Who are we to blame then? There are people that have taken that job as a profession. We should not allow others to spoil those trajectories. Prudent ACTIONS ARE NEEDED!

Patriotism – Nationalism, patriotism etc. Each day, we get to have a feel of what these things mean, but are we truly leaving up to such expectations? I doubt it. It is almost very normal for people to buy a sachet of water and litter same in the streets just after drinking. Is that patriotism? Do you call that nationalism? Now, that is just one aspect. Chances are that we are engaged in a lot of other vices. Time for more attitudinal and behavioural changes if we want to see an agenda for prosperity? Otherwise, we cannot continue to feed Salone if things remain as they are!

Sports/AFCON – Ivory Coast! What a lesson! Nigeria had the first half, but not the second. The final result says so much about not giving up; about not letting go; about being steadfast. But surely, other nations can learn from the hosts too. For Sierra Leone, we may still have some catching up to do. Let’s box on! We do not have to relent and yes; we should not give up because WE ARE LEONE STARS!
