In a significant effort to enhance community resilience and livelihood support, GOAL Sierra Leone conducted a highly anticipated meeting today, June 17, 2025, at the Red Cross Hall in Kambia 2. The gathering aimed to support seven beneficiaries from Kassirie, Moribaya, and Mabonka Communities, Samu Chiefdom, Kambia District through cash transfers to each individual totaling LE18,168,000 (Eighteen Million One Hundred Sixty-Eight Thousand Leones Old Leones.
The event was attended by a diverse group of stakeholders, including a representative from the Civil Society Movement of Kambia District, the District Agriculture Officer (DAO), a representative from the Ministry of Environment, a district council representative, and a representative from KADDRO (Kambia District Development and Rehabilitation Organization). Their presence underscores the collaborative effort behind this initiative to foster sustainable development and community well-being.
The Area Coordinator of GOAL Sierra Leone Northwest Region Samuel Kamara opened the session with a compelling statement on the importance of the cash transfer program. He emphasized that direct financial support plays a crucial role in empowering vulnerable households, boosting local economies, and fostering resilience against shocks such as climate change and economic hardships.
Following the coordinator’s remarks, beneficiaries shared their expectations and expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting how the cash transfer would improve their access to basic needs, healthcare, and education.
