On Wednesday, 8th April 2026 at the ministry of agriculture conference hall in Bo, key extension personnel in the ministry including volunteers and interns were trained in their field of study. Opening the training was the M& E officer of the ministry who doubled as the acting district agriculture officer. He entreated the trainees to ” focus on acquiring knowledge as it is power.” Khadija Koroma who’s the crop officer at the ministry in Bo told the trainees that the training would have taken place two years back but due to issues it was only made possible now . She also encouraged the workers that patience is key and that” at the end of the training they are going to give farmers livestock to see how they develop it into big business. She cautioned them about putting money ahead of everything.
The training proper was started especially on inland valley swamps, crop nursery and seed selection and handling. Sheku S. Koroma, one of the key facilitators told the participants that ” agriculture is hands-on practical experience which is mainly carried out in the field and less of office work.” That the aim of the training is for farmers to realize bumper yields or good returns on their farming labour
