As part of his coordinated effort to making sport an enticing destination, NSA Boss Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, has told Calaba Town youths to steer clear harmful drugs and crime in their pursuit to contribute meaningfully to society.
He made this appeal during the climax of the Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Kick Kush out Calaba Town Tournament on Sunday, 25th August, 2024.
The final, which pitched Young Professionals against Lion Heart, attracted hundreds of community men and women.
After Young Professionals had taken home NLE 2.5m as winners and Lion Hearts NLE 1.5m as runners up, Dr. Saffa Abdulai was honored by the organizers to present the Best Player award and the winner Trophy whilst Renowned Sierra Leonean football veteran John Dissa presented individual awards, with Chief Lambio handing over the Silver Trophy to the runner-up team.
Addressing the youths, Dr. Abdulai began by saying that President Bio appointed him to develop sports and extend its reach to underserved communities. He emphasized the importance of young people enjoying sports and refraining from drugs and crimes. He encouraged the young footballers to approach the game with dedication while also pursuing formal education or vocational training. He stressed the need for a backup plan, as not everyone will pursue a professional football career.
Speaking after him was NSA’s National Sports Coordinator Lamin Lambat Sesay who reechoed the need for young people to engage in meaningful things that ensure development. He encouraged women to organize their own league as Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai is particular about gender empowerment.
The event was hosted by the Eastern MCs Association.
