Fatmata Kargbo, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, has assured that her ministry will transform the lives of Sierra Leone and improve the trade sector, noting that the Ministry of Trade and Industry plays a significant part in the government’s Big Five Game Changers national development agenda.
“The Ministry of Trade will make a difference in the lives of people in Sierra Leone” she stated while speaking to journalists on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the country’s first ever civic festival organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education at Yuiyei Building in Freetown.
Madam Kargbo pointed out that the festival underscores the dream of President Julius Maada Bio to transform the country, assuring food sufficiency under his leadership.
When asked about her ministry’s participation in the civic festival, she noted that the event means a lot for the ministry, while thanking President Bio for initiating the Big Five Game Changers which she said has recorded development and growth in diverse sectors.
According to her, the ministry has about eight agencies, citing the Sierra Leone Standards Bureau and the Local Content Agency, among other. “We even have an iron rod company that was launched recently by the President,” she noted, while highlighting developments in the trade and industry sector.
During the first day of the civic festival, the ministry displayed local produce like oil, iron rods, and rice, to name but a few, adding the president has promised that the African country will soonest start to export its local produce.
